Hierro

Affiliated to the school of Nice, Jean-Antoine Hierro, lived between Saint Paul de Vence and Nice, after having lived his first years in Casablanca, and having been born there in 1960. Jean-Antoine Hierro started in classical painting and then leads to a more contemporary art through collages, drips, cutouts... His creation crosses with pop art at the School of Nice, mixing action painting. In his eyes, the artists Arman and César represent two emblematic figures. He often uses with amusement "practices that they themselves had taken elsewhere", underlines the artist. Their revolutionary practices range from the accumulation of objects (Arman), to their compressions (César) to the monochrome (Klein). Since 1994, this protean artist has embarked on the design and art market by opening his own gallery. He chooses Nice to highlight the young guard. His paintings are exhibited in prestigious venues: Paris (1981), Basel (1982), Frankfurt (1982), Vienna (1983), Houston (1989)... The artist achieved great visibility by representing France during the bicentennial exhibition, and his last two exhibitions at the Ferrero gallery, legendary gallery of the Nice School. The French Riviera accentuates its coastline when the artist exhibits a work of more than 350m² in homage to Gaudi (the architect of Park Güell).
